Why I Created rapfabulous

I’ve held onto the rapfabulous brand for several years, unsure of what direction to take with it. But earlier this year, it all clicked. I started noticing that many iconic hip-hop artists from the ‘90s and 2000s were releasing new music alongside their classic catalog tracks. Yet, these new releases weren’t getting the spotlight they deserved, stuck on YouTube or scattered across streaming platforms. That’s when I knew what rapfabulous needed to be—a dedicated space where hip-hop could truly celebrate its legacy and current evolution.

I pitched the idea to Skip Dillard, Brand Manager of 94.7 The Block in NYC, for a special weekend program to highlight both the new and classic works of legendary hip-hop artists. Thankfully, he saw the vision and introduced me to Jazzie Belle. Her passion and energy were the perfect fit for the show, and I knew immediately she would make an incredible co-host.

With rapfabulous, we’re creating a brand “Where Hip Hop Celebrates…The Music, The Culture, and More.” It’s more than just music; it’s about celebrating the artists’ past, present, and future. It’s a platform that gives these hip-hop legends the recognition they deserve for their contributions while showcasing their ongoing influence in the industry today.

I’m especially excited for the opportunity for my company, BLURRED SPACES, to collaborate with Audacy and SupeRadio to produce this series and bring rapfabulous to a national audience. It’s a major step in celebrating hip-hop’s vibrant culture on a bigger stage.
